The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) is undertaking an intensive multi-faceted approach to developing the County’s Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) Plan, as authorized by the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) enacted by the California Voters in 2004 (SB 63). LADMH contracted with WRMA to provide facilitation and support services to assist in the development of its plan.
There are four objectives for the planning process support provided by WRMA. Objective 1 supports the overall planning process, including its design and guidance, and the evaluation of the capacity of community partners to engage in it and to collaborate with DMH service area managers. Objectives 2, 3 and 4 are comprised of 50 key informant interviews, 60 focus groups, and 24 community forums respectively. Their purpose is to collect comprehensive community input for the plan. WRMA is responsible for: designing interviews, focus groups and forums; organizing and managing all aspects of the requisite site visits; conducting and facilitating events; providing language support in all 13 Los Angeles County threshold languages; recording/transcribing all events; and summarizing and analyzing the data collected.
