WRMA was selected to provide expert services to the Child Welfare Review Panel, which was established by Mayor John F. Street for the City of Philadelphia, Department of Human Services (DHS) by Executive Order on November 2, 2006. In the award, the City of Philadelphia noted that WRMA was chosen “for their superior skill and reputation, including timeliness and demonstrable results”. WRMA is assisting the panel in analyzing administrative data, reviewing case records, conducting focus groups, and report preparation.
These activities will support Panel efforts to:
Review child welfare fatalities in the past five years, Examine risk and safety assessment policies and practice, Review resources and cross system collaboration issues, Review sample contracts with nonprofit service providers, Examine trends based on administrative data, Examine child welfare practice through reviewing a sample of case records in core programs that do not involve reported fatalities, and Obtain input on the child welfare system from a broad range of community stakeholders.
