Since 1998, WRMA has worked with the Office of Community Services (OCS) within the Administration of Children and Families (ACF) to analyze the impact of Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) program funding. WRMA has completed seven annual reports for the years 1998-2004 and a trend report for the years 1995-1997. These reports demonstrated how SSBG funds, as well as funds transferred from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to SSBG, were used. WRMA maintains a multiyear data archive, updated annually with the most recent year’s data. WRMA staff members have revised the postexpenditure reporting form to be more useful to State and Federal agency personnel. Staff also developed a protocol for the collection and validation of SSBG postexpenditure data.
SSBG is a flexible funding source. Each State uses the funding to provide 29 different services to needy children and adults. These services include: child and adult protective services, day care, employment, family planning, health, housing, legal, and substance abuse. SSBG funds services in their entirety and can also fill gaps in existing service funding.
