July 28th 2005 - The Los Angeles County Department of Children & Families selected WRMA to perform Workload Assessment Consulting Services.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has engaged WRMA for an assessment of the work flow processes of the Department's case-carrying Children's Social Workers The upcoming initiatives for the Los Angeles County DCFS include: the effort to improve the quality of decision making; the development of prompt permanent placement for children; and the formation of a decentralized system for delivering community-based, family-centered services. The common denominator for success in these initiative efforts will be the development of an effective work flow process for those who make up the front lines in these efforts the case-carrying Children's Social Workers, Child Protection and Emergency Response personnel who depend on program partnerships to be able to provide comprehensive service delivery.
The ultimate goal of targeted assessment services will include evidence-based models for best work practices, the most effective use of support staff, the focused application of shared service models, the leadership capacity of management, and the optimized use of available technology. As DCFS develops and implements new service delivery models that emphasize collaboration and less centralized deployment of staff, there is an opportunity to review the roles for support staff and develop long range strategies for system change to enhance DCFS' commitment to permanency planning and improve service delivery for children and families. The end beneficiaries of this project are the children and families of Los Angeles County as well as the Departmental personnel who serve them. WRMA’s work on this project will create an opportunity to help ensure the successful collaborative development of a decentralized, community-based and family-centered service delivery system.
